Can any one share some source from where I can buy Sony Handycam battery compatible with Handycam model no. DCR-TRV-285E? I am from New Delhi, India. Upon doing lot of research on Sony website (Global & India), I found that this handycam model is still available in UK, but they have stopped selling in India. The original battery which came with the Handycam was NP-FM30. But I understand that battery model has undergone multiple changes. First it was substituted by NP-FM50 and then came NP-QM71D and NP-QM91D (same battery with different capacity). The most pathetic part is the After Sales Support from Sony India. You send them mails, they wont reply. You call up their Customer Care number, they will transfer you to the Technical Support department when you ask for replacement batteries. The guy at the Technical Support end will assure that they batteries are available and could be procured from their Service Centers (not Dealers). Now when you call up Service Centers ( I tried two of them nearby me: One at A-6 Okhla Industrial Area, Phase-II and the other at E-25 South Ex, Part-II Market), they will say that they dont sell batteries. Please contact Dealers. Call up the dealers. They will say that the Camera model is too old. Cant get you batteries. IS SONY SERIOUS ABOUT PROVIDING SERVICE TO CUSTOMERS IN INDIA??? I would appreciate if any one from Sony is reading this message, please revert to me with a solution. Any other gentleman / woman who has knowledge on availability of a replacement battery for my handycam (even if it non-Sony make will do), please help me urgently.
