Can anyone confirm the validity of this? Val Shearer Just off the phone to the SNP, had quite a lengthy phone call, if SNP win 50 % of the 59 scottish Westminster seats which is 25 seats then we have legal mandate to Declare independence! Let alone mandate for indy 2, would we do that? We would definitely mandate for a 2nd referendum as that is the fundamental policy of the SNP and is not going to go away! If SNP were to win more seats say 30-59 then ram the referendum we take our independence based on a massive majority, its called electoral law and westminster dont have to like it, its the way things are set up.
