Can anyone please explain what makes Dr. Manjul Bhargava an Indian. His wikipedia page says he was born and bred in the USA and studied for his BA from Harvard University. To me he is as American as any other white American. His mathematical acumen has prospered in the American education system. So, it comes as a surprise when people say that an Indian has won the Field Medal. Next we will hear that along with Sachin, Shivnarine Chanderpaul is the greatest Indian batsman ever produced. Also, that the Japanese origin Americans in the USA during the second world war were just acting when they went to fight for the USA in the second world war. Dr. Manjul Bhargava has honed his skills through sheer hard work. To say that he is an Indian just gives us a false sense of pleasure. Be happy for him because he has done some wonderful things in a wonderful subject and not because his name sounds Indian. He is a product of the American system of education, so give credit to that.
