Can anyone put me wise.. Is it written anywhere that sacrifice of animals (qurbani) is mandatory or an appreciated practice, on Eid day for everyone or only those who perform Hajj. Is it a sunnat of the kind that Holy Prophet did every single year ?? As far as my limited knowledge goes, he (PBUH) did it only when he performed Hajj.. And why so much fanfare and competition about this ritual... Reason for my query ... Well, why so much of killing, so much of waste of meat, waste of money. Imagine all these people contributing this money towards education or health of poor or any other noble cause ...!
