Can everyone do me a favor? Can you watch this tremendous video? It contains zero graphic images, no footage of dog fighting, or anything of the ilk (so its safe for you Brittany). What it does contain is an eye-opening experience for those who are completely unaware of the dog fighting epidemic in this country. These dogs live in horrendous conditions, are literally bolted to the ground or welded into cages, and are abused regularly by human hands. And YET, even amidst all the evidence in the world youd need to hate humans, when they are rescued, their tails are wagging, and they are saying THANK YOU. Thank YOU, new human friends, for saving me from your evil brethren. They dont condemn all humans for the actions of a few. They dont discriminate, harbor hatred, or assume that all humans are inherently dangerous. No. They are better than that. They are better than us. They simply want love. And they want nothing more than to return the favor. They are everything we should be, with none of our vices. And yet people still have the absolute gall to frame THEM as the dangerous ones. How dare you. How dare you impose the evil within humans onto these dogs and then proceed to kill them for what they become. You do NOT get to use them as a scapegoat for the woes of humankind. And its up to the intelligent few to see the difference, and educate others. Most people arent aware that dog fighting happens EVERYWHERE. This isnt a problem only in inner cities. This isnt a minority hobby, a poverty hobby, or an urban hobby. It is all-encompassing, and it is OUR problem. These tortured souls are waiting for YOU and ME to DO SOMETHING about it. It starts with US. If you suspect dog-fighting, if you see equipment similar to that shown in the video, PLEASE report it. If you have information about illegal animal fighting in your area, you can call the Humane Society of the United State’s animal fighting tip line at 877-TIP-HSUS and your information will be kept confidential. The HSUS also offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in dogfighting or cockfighting.
