Can everyone who is pouring out judgement over mental health and - TopicsExpress

Can everyone who is pouring out judgement over mental health and death related to mental health conditions please take a minute to actually research and possibly, I dunno, LISTEN to people who have experience of actual mental health problems please? You probably know some people personally. Try to drop whatever arrogance you have over what you perceive to be the correct way of thinking, and understand the FUNDAMENTAL THING WHICH IS BLATANTLY OBVIOUS FROM THE TERM MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS, and realise that they are disorders that affect your entire way of experiencing the world. PHYSICALLY and in terms of intellectual processing. And so it is not easy to snap out of, and condemning people for their actions when affected by a crippling illness that does completely skew ones ability to make decisions, move, restrict harmful behaviours, just basically live normally is really a very damaging thing to do. Your actions and words do affect sufferers of these disorders, and simply dismissing somebodys clinically proven condition with years and years of scientific research to further back up their diagnosis IS disablist. Your negative words will probably affect someone who is currently having to fight these illnesses. Just because you cant see it doesnt mean it isnt real. Why the hell do i even have to state that? Its disturbing that so many people are so incredibly stupid and horrible. So its all in the mind right? Well what you are referring to there is the brain. So OF COURSE they are debilitating conditions. While youre at it why not just attack every mental health problem. Go on, go and tell a person suffering schizophrenia, manic depression, psychosis and so on to snap out of it. You are wrong and the majority of scientists, doctors and social care workers and so forth will also attest to that..so basically everyone who isnt a totally bigoted moron.
