Can i get some opinions please? I have had my machine for years, and before that i used the handed down one from my mom..i dont know alot about machines but i do know about sewing..lol! Anyway my friend (i am more like her mom away from home) wants to buy a machine her first one and i will probably be teaching her to sew..She wants a machine that will last because she will be sewing for years to come,.. I know that some of the newer machines have plastic gears and insides which i think she should try to avoid.. however her budget is about 300.00... i told her she may want to find a good older machine that is made from metal , but then again maybe there are good new ones out their now too .. i just have no clue and she messaged me back and asked me for brands that she should look at for her price range.. can you all help me give her good direction..like i said, i know one older machine that was handed down to me, and the machine i have now which is out of her budget so i dont have any knowledge on other good machines...I have looked at a few singer models and the reviews are split, but i find that pretty much the norm when i read reviews on much of anything... i also borrowed a friends machine once when mine was getting cleaned, i think it was a brother or singer and it was so light weight when i sewed the machine jumped around and vibrated too much for my liking.. so i am at a loss of what to recommend..Thank you!
