Can someone explain to me why this interchange is so difficult? Probably lack of funding right? It could have been so good. But now because of the half block length of the tram platform, youre most often dumped closer to little Lonsdale than la trobe, which makes changing from tram to train longer and further. An underground connection would be rad. That could also be great on the Swanston St side where you have to go through all the people at Melbourne Central shopping centre to reach the station. That transfer is an especially good example of poor wayfinding.
