Can we please stop pretending that the teachings of Islam are so much more violent than Christianity? Neither of these are truly violent or advocate violence, however, when taken out of context, both of them can be considered violent. Examples: Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment. - Al-Maidah:33 (Sahih international) Sounds kinda like theyre instructed to kill all who blaspheme or wage war against God, right? Anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death. - Leviticus 24:16 (New International) Sound familiar? As a whole, I believe neither of these belief systems truly preach that violence is okay, and is your calling. And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah . Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. - Ash-Shuraa:40 (Sahih International) For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. - Matthew 6:14 Everyones interpretation of their holy book is different, but to generalize a large group of peoples behavior based on that of a small subgroup within it makes you as bad as those you are judging.
