Can you help police identify two men who tried to snatch mobile phones from students in Birmingham recently? The men, caught on CCTV, are wanted in connection with two attempt robberies in the area over the past few weeks. Officers hope someone will recognise the two men and come forward with their details. The first attempted robbery took place in a subway off Aldridge Road, near to the UCE campus in Perry Barr between 5.20-5.30pm Friday 10 October. A 19-year-old man was grabbed by two men, who then tried to steal his mobile phone, when the man refused to let go, he was punched in the face several times, before the attackers ran off without stealing anything. The man suffered a fractured nose as a result of the assault. The second incident took place at 1.35pm Thursday 23 October. A 19-year-old woman was approached by two men and she walked while speaking on her mobile. The men grabbed her wrist and tried to steal her phone, however, she refused to let go and they ran off empty handed. DC Claire Pollard from Birmingham West and Central CID said: “ It is believed the two men shown are responsible for both attempt robberies. They are described as two black males aged late teens/early twenties Local officers have been conducting inquiries in the area and are hoping someone will recognise the two men and contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers confidentially on 0800 555 111.
