Can you help us trace a man who punched a woman in the head and stole her handbag. The 67-year-old victim had been shopping in Peterborough and was walking home when the mugging happened at about 4.20pm on Friday (December 19). As she turned off Oundle Road and into George Street the man approached and struck her to the back of the head. She fell to the ground and the attacker grabbed her handbag, which contained a mobile phone, and ran off in the direction of Oundle Road. The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The attacker was described as 5’10”, slim and wearing a black hooded top and bottoms. This was a cowardly attack on a woman who was laden down with carrier bags and not able to defend herself. We would urge anyone who was in the area and saw what happened or who has any information at all to contact police.
