Can you remember The Five Man Electric Band? Well, how about the first line of this chorus: Signs, Signs, Everywhere theres signs,? Every preacher has told you of signs when they enter an eschatology message for Matthew 24:4-14, and they also liken these signs to a woman in travail. Yes, the pains keep coming faster and closer together, along with increasing intensity. Now let me speak to something else along this juncture. You guys can quit here because I dont think you can relate. As a woman is in travail, those pains start out pretty minor. Then the time between pains shortens, but the intensity increases as well. During the end of the travail, the woman is encouraged to do two things that God has instilled within their makeup. They are to breathe by panting, to keep oxygen going to their muscles. They are encouraged to give voice to their intense pain. Finally they are encouraged that with every pain to PUSH. Now why does Christ use such a natural event to help us understand the end-times events, and how to be of use during them? As the doctors and nurses pay attention to the signs of the childbirth, so should the believer, so that he knows what we should do naturally. As the signs intensify, we are to be taking in extra life giving air, the Pneuma or Spirit and the Word, to strengthen our muscles and resolve. We are to give voice to these pains, to let every one within ear shot know that what is happening is of the LORD and through it all, HE will be glorified - give your testimony to all that will listen. And finally, with each pain we are to push. Push out the Gospel of Grace, Mercy , and Salvation to all that you can before HE removes us out of this mess. He that hath an ear, let him hear. He that hath eyes, may they be opened by the Spirit to the joys that await them.
