Canada! Great result from Dr. Howard Dolman and the team at Dolman Eyecare Centre, New Hamburg ON, Canada. Dr. Howard Dolman writes, For the month of October our practice supported the World Sight Day Challenge, by offering baked goods and/or tickets to enter a draw for a beautiful seasonal swag (created and donated by staff member Deb) to encourage our patients to make a donation. We explained to each patient how a $2 donation would provide an eye exam, and that a $5 contribution would provide an eye exam and glasses. We had the poster board and the fundraising thermometer on the wall behind our checkout desk, to show how many patients had made donations. With respect to the draw tickets, we asked for a minimum of $5, to encourage our patients to give more if they were so inclined. We also explained that our clinic would be matching the donations from our patients, up to $750. Our staff wore the World Sight Day Challenge T-Shirts on the Wednesday kick-off day and every Friday in the month of October to keep our enthusiasm high. Our patients donated $1124.25 and our clinic matched every dollar up to $750, for a final donation total of $1874.25! We know that this can provide more than 375 eye exams and glasses to those who are in need! We already have ideas of how to increase our donation level next year. Our goal for 2015 is $2,500!
