Canada is helping to promote free, fair and transparent elections in Ukraine In addition to providing election observers for Ukraine’s upcoming presidential elections (pm.gc.ca/eng/news/2014/04/23/pm-announces-new-measures-promote-democracy-ukraine) Canada is also providing long-term assistance to strengthen the election processes in Ukraine. Through OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, Canada has helped the Central Election Commission to develop an Online Election Commissioner Recruitment and Training System to provide distant training of election commissioners and other participants of electoral process. This useful tool operates as a knowledge base, providing access to documents and information about the organization and administration of elections, including the upcoming presidential elections on May 25, 2014. Registration is free and open to everyone (195.230.157.14/docebo/index.php?s&special=changelang&new_lang=english). Register today! Canada’s «Developing Election Training Capacity and Enhancing Voter Awareness» project aims to improve the capacity of Ukraine’s Central Elections Commission (CEC) to administer and coordinate elections across the country. It provides technical assistance to the CEC to help it implement an effective and comprehensive training program for election commissioners across the country. It also promotes cooperation between the CEC and civil society groups with the aim of increasing voter rights awareness and disseminating information on legal elections procedures.
