Canada seems like a peaceful & beautiful country,but 2 things bother me about it.The 1st one is the fact that it is extremely big,but has a relatively small population.It is approximately 9 984 670 square kilometres yet only has about 35 million people.South Africa is approximately 1 219 912 square kilometres & has a population of about 53 million.Canadas southern relative the United States is about 9 826 675 square kilometres & has a population of about 316 000 000.The 2nd thing that bothers me is that the reason why there are so few people in Canada is because the country has a very cold climate!Most Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border,where it is relatively warmer.To me it seems like the northern half of Canada would be much more developed if more people lived there & the climate was nt so cold.Then youve got the worlds 2nd largest island Greenland,to the northeast of Canada,which has an area of 2 166 086 square kilometres,of which about 1 710 000 square kilometres is covered by a gigantic ice sheet.Obviously people cant live on an ice sheet so the relatively small inhabitable part of Greenland has a small population of 56 483.The Greenland ice sheet is gradually melting though,due to global warming.
