Canada suspends $10-million contribution to the Commonwealth Secretariat over alleged human rights abuses in Sri Lanka. This is a laudable gesture and it should be a uniformed message for both Commonwealth and La Francophone organizations because both Francophones and Anglophones deserve human rights, rule of law and democracy. Before this announcement was made by the minister of foreign affairs, I pleaded in a correspondence of last month addressed to the Hon. Bernard Valcourt, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the Prime Minister of Canada and to other senior government officials that Canada must take a leadership role for the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and their organization of La francophonie just as we are doing for Sir Lanka. Injustice in any language or territory is injustice. Injustice does not become good or justifiable depending on which race, language or region it is performed. news.nationalpost/2014/04/14/canada-suspends-10-million-contribution-to-the-commonwealth-secretariat-over-alleged-human-rights-abuses-in-sri-lanka/
