Canadian Maritimes “Youth Ambassador” Voyage Day 2 Aboard Spirit of Bermuda – Thursday, August 21st, 2014 Spirit is now off! This morning, the crew made their way from Watford Bridge to St. Georges Harbour, arriving around 11:45am. On their way, Captain led practice of emergency drills in Murrays Anchorage after an in-depth orientation on what to expect during offshore sailing. She dropped sails and anchored in Powder Hole area for a few hours, while Captain came ashore in the small boat to finalise the clearing process for Customs/Immigration and the two Mates (who flew in this morning) settled in. Meanwhile, the participants enjoyed Chefs lunch, activities in their watches and discovering similar interests amongst each other. After a good show of raising sails and maneouvering in the harbour (and so entertaining the onlookers in St. Georges), she finally sailed out through Town Cut around 4pm - with the mizzen, mainsail and foresail set. More specific details (about the ships course, wind speed, weather conditions etc.) will follow in Captains update later this evening, so stand by!
