Candidate John-Henry Harter has been vocal about the current - TopicsExpress

Candidate John-Henry Harter has been vocal about the current boards silence about Class Size and Composition and chronic underfunding of Public Education during the recent BCTF job action. In response, incumbant Walt Krahn (I believe), stated that the board in fact had written two letters to BCPSEA/the govt. (Those letters are posted some where on in this group). In one of the letters, the current board makes a plea for additional funding for wage increases for Sr. Management. What new candidates (and some incumbants) may not know, is that there are a number of Support Staff employees who are receiving wages LESS than those guaranteed by the CUPE 411 Collective Agreement. It concerns me greatly that the board would petition the government for additional funding for wage increases for Sr. Management (who make more than $100K and upwards of $150K each), while CUPE staff continue to go without the wages they are already legally entitled to. The excuse of Sr. Management for this discrepancy is there simply isnt enough money to pay these CUPE members their correct wages. However, there seems to be money for new furniture and technology at the board office and more than $41,000 to spend at Decades coffee house. I would like to hear from candidates, how they propose to right this wrong regarding CUPE wages.
