Candolim VP seeks hoteliers’ support in keeping village clean navhindtimes.in/?p=56864CANDOLIM: In order to keep the village clean and garbage free, the village panchayat of Candolim has sought the collaboration from each of the starred hotel in its jurisdiction to undertake a cleanliness drive along the highway once a month. Speaking to the daily, the Candolim sarpanch Sandra Fialho informed that there are more than 30 starred hotels in its jurisdiction and that the village panchayat has planned to allot only one day of the month to each hotels to undertake a cleanliness drive along the main road of Candolim. When asked if there was a possibility of non-cooperation from hotels, the sarpanch replied that if there is any non-cooperation, the village panchayat would deny the hotels the required NOCs. The Candolim village panchayat has thought of this idea since the guest staying in hotels in Candolim throw dry waste along the main road.Appreciating and welcoming the idea of holding a cleanliness drive in collaboration with the village panchayat, the general manager of Victor Exotica Malcolm D’Mello said that keeping up with the motto of ‘Go clean ,Goa green’, the staff would be undertaking the cleanliness drive three times a month in association with the Candolim village panchayat. “Only if the surrounding is clean the guest will come and stay in Candoilm. All hoteliers will be benefited if we think positive,” he added. Mary Britto, a senior citizen from Candolim said that it is a good initiative taken by the village panchayat to keep the surroundings clean and by assigning each hotel the job to clean the main road, the tourist will definitely take back some good memories of our village.
