Cant Never Did, Can Did It All A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart...Luke 6:45 Have you ever seen someone that is living an incredibly happy fulfilled life but its almost impossible to understand how? Maybe that person has been blind from birth but seems to see better than those of us who have twenty twenty vision. Maybe that person has been confined to a wheelchair since childhood but absolutely nothing seems to slow them down. Maybe that person was born without limbs that were formed correctly in their mothers womb but they are an incredible inspiration to those of us who have all of our arms, legs, hands and feet perfectly proportioned to our bodies. Maybe that person has the inability to ever enjoy what we who are normal are able to enjoy in life like looking forward to getting a drivers license or graduating from high school or going to college or falling in love and saying I Do beginning a family of their own and yet they are completely happy, smiling, and willing to love like we struggle to love, all because they have been born with a severe case of Downs syndrome. Have you ever been given the gift of making their acquaintances or the honor of watching them even from a distance? We get so wrapped up in the flaws of our own that all that consumes our thoughts are the negatives of what we see in the mirror. Another gray hair, another wrinkle, another roll, another and another and another until our emotional condition takes on the resemblance of a troll and the real beauty that would make us as valuable as precious metal disappears behind a thousand disguises. We get so caught up in what we cant do because of our physical or mental limitations that instead of looking at a challenge with anticipation of what could be, we hide behind a mountain of excuses that turns us into a couch potato with little to no confidence that we can be an inspiration to anyone. We get so wrapped up in what we arent that what we could be is but a pipe dream that is dismissed as a blot of mustard or a slice of pizza we ate the night before. Have you ever watched a bird without one leg hop until it needs to fly and when it does, with ease, it takes to the wind? Have you ever wondered what it is that gives the broken the ability to fly higher, live happier or become more successful emotionally than those of us who think we have all the pieces of the puzzle in all right places? They have never lost their heart. They have never allowed their disabilities or perceived inabilities to clip their wings. They may not ever win a beauty pageant, they may never win a scholarship to Harvard, they may never win the Indy five hundred, but they will win a most coveted race, this race called life. It is our heavenly daddys hope for us that when the checkered flag of our life is waving that we will have learned that its not what we have that is most important, but who we are. We have been offered the gift of flight, but, if we lose our heart, our days will be reduced to pecking at the crumbs dropped by others, with our eyes always looking down, disgruntled that there isnt more. Look up, look out, the clouds are waiting your arrival.
