Cant exactly figure out how I feel about today... I would like to thank the veterans... But a free meal or a thank you just doesnt seem measure up for everything they do and put up with. How do you repay someone who protects your ability to pass day to day as a free being while sometimes losing everything they have, things they never thought they would sacrifice, and even their own lives? Then, to know so much scum will come out of the woodwork to abuse and complain about some of the services and offers given to those veterans as a Thank You.... and knowing Ill have to just smile and nod, even if it ends up being some twerp just out of basic training wearing a fresh new uniform with no deployment patch. For all of you who have given so much for so little, those of you with PTSD, lost limbs, lost friends or brothers in arms, and even the families of those who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother, daughter or son to a war fought on foreign soil... You deserve more than a free meal, a small discount, or a random Thanks from a random stranger who may or may not understand the meaning of today. I wish I could give you more than you deserve for everything you have done for our country. However, as one more civilian, another stranger in the crowd welcoming you home, even if youve been home for years, I would like to send my small Thank You to those who have given me the ability to be the outspoken, head in the clouds kind of girl who likes to make pretty things. It is because of you, I have the freedoms to experience this world with rules that dont hold me back from things I like to do. Thank you
