Cant wait to get our aquaponics system going! What have I learned? No cinder blocks in the tank (changes pH), no tap water (unless a chloramine remover is added), no filter needed (the plants are the filters), get some air stones and a pump to circulate the water out to the plants! Still wondering: Can we run drip lines from the tank around our yard to water/nourish our soil based plants? Im thinking it could work but wed run out of water quickly, which means we need to build some floating pots for the plants. But first: Water, water plants, air stones, pump (4:1 gals/tank gals/hr), fish, THEN we can start growing plants... so in the spring, friends just wait! Put in your requests now, because we might sell/barter our crops next year! Oh, and we will also harvest organically grown fish! Woo hoo. Im turning into such a nerd.
