Canton Repository .... Canton Museum of Art — The major ceramics exhibition at the museum isn’t about kitschy bowls and fancy vases for flowers. “Waylande Gregory: Art Deco Ceramics and the Atomic Impulse” is the first retrospective on the artist, the first modern ceramist to create large-scale ceramic sculptures and the man who helped shape Art Deco design in this country. The exhibit highlights more than 60 works, including paintings, glass and ceramics. Of particular interest are his four Electrons, which were part of “The Fountain of the Atom,” a major commission for the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair. The exhibit is open through July 20.
