Can’t understand how some of you have perfect scores in Economics but can’t get it through your head that your $250,000 education is ONLY worth $250,000 because kids are willing to pay that much for it. Want it to be less expensive? Dont apply and urge other kids to do the same. If you KNOW you can’t afford to go to NYU Stern for just a bachelor’s degree even after your financial aid package comes in, go to Baruch or Hunter or any other CUNY that offers it. There’s no shame in it. What makes me upset is the fact that banks are willing to loan so much money to 17 year old kids that have never made any sort of investment decision in their life and are also STILL legally not allowed to even open up a checking account without the help of their parents. The same parents who grew up in a society where a bachelor’s degree meant something and it was an investment that you could pay off within a few years after graduating and after you landed your first job at IBM, Apple, GM, etc. And theyll pressure you to go to expensive schools because thats how it was when they were younger. Be a little smarter this month and try to make good decisions with your (future) money, kids. I’m fortunate enough to have had the right mentors holding my hand through the college process for the past 1-2 months. If this post applies to you, I really hope you get what I’m trying to say. If it doesn’t, power to you and I hope you get into your top choice.
