Capital assumes several forms – intellectual capital, social capital, labour capital, economic capital, technological, r&d capital and indeed financial capital. To this list I would like to coin and add another form of capital creation – media capital. Now while each kind of capital can be defined taking into account its nuanced differential, generically speaking, capital may be considered as a reserve currency with full or partial `convertibility’ into desired goods and services. So now, what is media capital and why is it important? What are the properties of media capital, particularly in the Knowledge economy? To what extent does all this capital formation impact the new world order? How may we integrate the various forms of capital into the freshly evolving SDR mechanism of the new IMS?
