Capitol could have been more prudent in giving relief assistance - TopicsExpress

Capitol could have been more prudent in giving relief assistance to Dumanjug and thus avoided the spectacle of seeing the Mayor and Vice Mayor resume hostilities once again. As it is right now the irresponsible act by Capitol of playing politics and thus choosing to course through the Vice Mayor some or majority of the relief assistance for that town only served to ignite the present controversy. According to the law all relief assistance given to local government units shall be received by the towns social welfare officer who of course is under the local chief executive. The Vice Mayor who is the presiding officer of the legislative body has no business receiving nor distributing relief goods because that is not his job and the men and women working for the local govt unit report directly and are the responsibility of the chief executive except those under the legislative which number only a handfull. Can you imagine Franklin Drilon or Jojo Binay receiving aid from a foreign country much more than the aid received by PNOY himself from that same foreign country? Ridiculous isnt it? The truth of the matter as what happened to us after Yolanda is that Capitol has no qualms when it comes to playing politics
