Captain C.B. Sully Sullenberger This Veterans Day, I honor all - TopicsExpress

Captain C.B. Sully Sullenberger This Veterans Day, I honor all who serve and who have served our country. One group of overlooked veterans deserves special support: The Womens Airforce Service Pilots, or WASPs, as they were commonly known during WWII, ferried planes across the U.S., test-flew new and repaired aircraft, trained both ground and air-to-air gunners and performed other domestic operational missions during World War II. I met some of these amazing women and am so impressed with what they accomplished in spite of many obstacles. Thirty-eight of them lost their lives while on duty. These brave women aviators were crucial to the American war effort, yet their history is little known and seldom told. Heres a wonderful story from the Washington Post about a campaign to honor these veterans by putting a float in the Tournament of Roses (Rose Parade): tinyurl/lwhpf2k.
