Captain Colin secures victory for Port Once Again PGBC 21s 3 St Peters 1 In this fantastic team performance the Port boys took on a St Peters side that are 2 divisions above them, and ensured they went through to the next round of the Lady Darling Cup. As usual Robbie was fantastic in goal when he had to be and bar the penalty kick awarded to St Peters he was always going to keep them out. The defence were solid throughout and the work rate of the midfield was fantastic, with ref’s motm being awarded to Ryan McGarrity for the effort he put in. Goals from Ross McLaughlin and Darren Patton added to their seasons tally but it was Colin Stevenson showing off again with his free kick perfection to ensure the Port went ahead and stayed ahead. Tam, Paul and John are very pleased with the effort and team spirit of recent weeks and hope this continues. It was the Port however who cam out on top, a fantastic performance from Adam hannah ensured a hat trick and the refs motm award, with Young Mark Ross adding another 4 to his seasons tally and Sam Pollock also getting one. Sponsored by Tam Sharp of Sharp Response. Glenvale Red 1 PGBC 13s 4 Port travelled to Ferguslie Sports Centre in Paisley on Saturday morning to face Glenvale. In a pretty quiet first half Port never really looked troubled, but failed themselves to take their chances. That was until a throw in from Brandon McCabe was controlled by Scott Marshall who then played Ryan Phillips clear, Ryan cut inside before sending a great strike over the Glenvale keeper. Declan Adair was unlucky not to double Ports lead when a great left footed strike came back off the post. In a much busier second half Port started to find their shooting boots. Jack Anderson scored with a shot across the keeper from the edge of the box with his weaker right foot to put Port further ahead. Jack then turned provider when his corner into the box found Declan Adair to score with a good strike. Glenvale managed to pull one back straight from kick off as they ran straight through catching Port sleeping. Brandon McCabe had a shot from the edge of the box, but the Glenvale keeper managed to get a strong hand on the ball and send it wide. David Curley picked the ball up in midfield and sent a great pass wide to Declan Adair who cut inside before unleashing a great shot across the keeper and into the bottom corner. With the game coming to a close a ball into the box saw Ross McKays header come back off the post. Glenvale picked the ball up and went straight on the counter attack but found Shaun Grierson on hand to pull off a great last gasp tackle. Referees Man of the Match - Brandon McCabe. PGBC 2004s Orange Today saw the port host St Andrews at home in an early kick off, with 3 games left of the season and no win in 5 the port fielded an experimental side, with most of the boys playing out of their natural position. The port started the game well but as in recent weeks were soon behind with St Andrews first attack of the game, credit to the boys they continued to try and play their own game and managed to create a few chances in between a hand full of goals for St Andrews. The second half started with the port on the front foot again and this time they got the break through with a rare goal from peter Ingram, with the ports tails up and Marc McDonald linking the attack with midfield well marc was to supply the through ball for young Niall Brady to score. The port had a few more chances to reduce the deficit but it was St Andrews who were to sneak another goal or two before wee Lyle MacDonald finished off the scoring for the port. Credit to the boys they kept trying and no one can fault their enthusiasm and effort today. Thanks to Marcus Humphrey for their continued support. PGBC 2004s Black This week the boys travelled to Ferguslie to on Barrhead wasps. With Barrhead getting the match underway the boys went on the attack immediately with Emerson winning the ball and going close with a run and shot within the first minute. This setting the tone for the remainder of the half. With McLaughlin pressing the defence high inside their own half and a great work rate from Emerson and Creen on both wings with Weston in the centre, the boys created chance after chance. Keeping the keeper busy but perhaps snatching a little trying to find the opener. At the other end Scott and Baxter along with McDougall ever alert and dealt with anything Barrhead put together. With half time coming McBride and McPhee were introduced to the match. The boys didnt have to wait long in the second half to take the lead. With McLaughlin in attack a fine shot seen him lob the keeper from outside the box the boys kicking on from here in fine style and right away McLaughlin added another to increase the lead. At the other end Barrhead earning a free kick a good ball whipped in to the port box the striker getting up to dispatch a header pulling a goal back for the home side. The boys not letting this affect their game and went right back to work increasing their lead in fantastic style. An attacking move and a shot by McLaughlin right into the top corner leaving the keeper rooted to the spot. The boys making up for missed chances in first half by being ruthless in the second. A port attack and attempted clearance by Barrhead sat up nicely for Emerson to unleash a ferocious volley into the top corner. With the boys still hungry to add to their tally Creen robbed the midfielder to go one on one with the keeper and slot a cool finish home before a great driving run from midfield and fine side foot finish from Weston seen the scoring end for the day. The boys ending the game in great style. Once again every boy playing their part on the day. PGBC 2005s A few boys played Grieve Rd on Saturday at Parklea and were unlucky to loose out, they faced a side a year above them and played some very nice football. Hat trick hero Sean Tosh kept his side in the game with Reece Farrell and Devlin Anderson both ensuring the play went well in the middle of the park. The Ports motm had to be Paul McGachy though who played well in every position he was asked to play and constantly encouraged his team. Then on Sunday 3 teams played at Notre Dame and continued to work in their teams passing and moving the ball to create chances and some quality football for the parents who came along to watch. Young Charlie Seggie is coming on in leaps and bounds and was fantastic for his team.
