Captains Log - Saturday, November 23rd A Great Day with the RULE Crew and with TULEs Engine. 1) With the help of DEAR Friends, got the Ticket Booth Floor project complete. Now, install a window, a couple of ceiling fans, some reworking of the duplex power outlets and a custom Dutch Door and the Ticket Booth is done. 2) Two drain ports on the Engine Rm roof drilled 3) With the help of Chief Engineer Anthony P. Edmund & Asst. Engineer Gene Roberts, we FIRED the Boiler for the first time with Solid Wood fuel. Determined an accurate setting of 185lbs for the Safety Valve Pop-off setting. Definitely got our attention. 4) Attempted first whistle blow, but discovered a small hole in the valve neck that did not allow us to pressure the whistle up to serviceable pressure. Repair for Monday. 5) With a full head of steam, decided to warm and work out kinks in the Engine, get use to the timing and directional controls. Success! We actually make here go full ahead and full astern while at her mooring (with no apparent damage to the new storage dock footings). Wow. We made her move. What a great day. TOMORROW - reconnecting & checking navigational lights, rudder indicator and pulling the defective gate valve on the steam whistle, install the whistle sheaves I need to make the pull cord for the whistle work smoothly. Today was a very productive day!!!
