Captive cetaceans stunningly beautiful, tragically sad. Help stop it now Dolphin rights - please sign and share and get them their rights. (11 photos) A coalition of scientists, animal-rights activists, and philosophers are in agreement: dolphins, second only to humans in terms of mammalian intelligence, should be considered “non-human persons” and granted due protection under law. Dolphin research has show that the creatures are more intelligent than chimpanzees, they recognize their reflections in a mirror, and can even think about the future. India has already declared them non human persons. Rights under this Act would give them the same protections under law as humans. i.e. killing a dolphin would be the same under law as killing a human. The scientists originally proposed the ten Declaration of Rights for Cetaceans two years ago at a conference in Helsinki.
