""Car bomb kills 8 Kurdish police in northern #Iraq"" At least eight Kurdish security forces have been killed and nine others wounded in a car bomb explosion in Iraq’s northern Salahuddin Province, officials say. The attack was carried out in the town of Tuz Khurmatu on Sunday when an assailant detonated an explosive-laden car near a three-vehicle police convoy. So far, no group has claimed responsibility. Tuz Khurmatu is part of the disputed areas which the central government and the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region claim to have jurisdiction over. Ten people were also killed and 15 others wounded in separate bombings and shootings in the country on Saturday. The attacks come amid an increase in violence that killed more than 720 people in Iraq in July.
