Carb cfm suggestions! I think I already know what Im eventually going to get but Im looking for some suggestions on a carburetor choice...mainly with the cfm. Ive narrowed it down to a Holley Street Avenger with a manual choke (want to keep the knob on the dash) and vacuum secondaries (C6 and street driven). The engine is a 390 with compression of ~9.5. I am porting and polishing the C8AE-H heads and using 2.08/1.65 CJ valves. The cam is a Lunati Voodoo with an advertised 268/276 and 0.552/0.564 with a range of 1600-5800 RPM. I have a set of matched valve springs and will be running some Comp Cam adjustable rollers. The intake is an Eddy RPM and full length headers will be used. The fresh C6 has a new 2200-2400 Hughes and the 9 will run either 3.25 or 3.50 gears. Finally, this is all going in my 70 SWB 2WD F100 hot rod truck. I have used the online calculators that take only the max RPM and displacement into account but things like usage, auto vs. manual, gearing, etc. are factors too and Im torn between the 670cfm and the 770cfm (leaning toward the 670). Im fairly certain that Ill be in the 400hp/460ft-lbs ballpark and I dont want it to suffer with a carb thats too small. Any suggestions appreciated and thanks in advance! ;)
