Carbon River Road Trail: 10 miles round trip Ranger Falls: 7.4 miles round trip Green Lake: 9 miles round trip Chenuis Falls: 8.2 miles round trip With Autumn here and winter approaching, for those who don’t enjoy snow shoeing or skiing, you may be wondering what hikes are still possible when the snow hits the ground. Tucked on the northwest corner of the park lies the Carbon River Road. Closed to vehicles after the 2006 flood, it’s one of the few areas where bicycles are allowed off the paved road. Begin at the Carbon River entrance, and make your way through old growth forest and the most inland rainforest within the park. After 3.3 miles come to the Green Lake Trailhiead. You can hike 1 mile up to 172 foot Ranger Falls, and then another 0.8 miles to Green Lake. Another short detour off of the Carbon River Road is Chenuis Falls, the trailhead being 3.7 miles from your vehicle. Then hike another 0.4 miles to the 287 foot falls.
