CarbonX/Century Motorsports and Marine Rocky Mountain Challenge Series O’Reilly Auto Parts 125 Magic Valley Speedway Twin Falls, ID Magic Valley Speedway will host the third of six races for the series this Saturday night July 26th for the popular Super Late Model Series. The O’Reilly Auto Parts 125 will bring the best out to fight for the coveted Rocky Mountain Challenge Series 2014 Championship. The July 5th event, at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, saw some misfortune for some teams that always makes somebody else smile. Jonathon Gomez went into the event as the points leader with veteran Jeff Hillock, driver of the #36 racecar, in hot pursuit…remember that Hillock has been so close he could touch the championship a couple of years ago. For Gomez, it was a race he could not attend, so he put last year’s champion, Trevor Cristiani, driver of the #90 racecar, in his car and looked for great results. This was not to be, as Cristiani suffered with premature engine gremlins and did not finish the event. As Hillock saw things unfold in front of him, the Utah boy’s cleaned house, with # 4 of Lynn Hardy winning, # 66 of Eric Rhead in second and #36 of Hillock finishing third. This put a major scramble in the points, with Jeff Hillock sitting up front, with 356 points, Eric Rhead just 13 points behind and Jonathan Gomez an additional 13 points behind in third. Eric Rhead, driver of the #66 racecar, out of West Valley, UT finds himself in second with 343 points and looks to better that at Magic Valley. He is well funded this year with his Redbone Racing teammate Al Jones also making the trip this weekend. Jonathon Gomez had a rough weekend in Kalispell, at the Montana 200 and would like to see his luck turn around by getting back his points lead in the RMCS. He has the skill as he calls Magic Valley Speedway his home. He has proven time and time again that they could rename the place after him. So look for point’s redemption from the popular #22 team. Kris McKean, driver of the #7 racecar, is looking tall...considering he is at the track he also calls home, for several obvious reasons. He sits fourth in points at 315 and is in a real good position to climb the ladder with a good solid run this Saturday. Hometown hero Bruce Quale, driver of the # 92 racecar, finds himself in fifth position with 308 points. Not too far back to wage a championship comeback, but something good has to happen to get up there and able to contend…he is really good on this racetrack..so keep an eye on him. There looks to be three contenders from the city of Las Vegas, NV. planning on attending...Longtime competitor #09 of Thane Alderman will make the trek along with his teammate #12 driver Jim Wulfenstien. Mark Allison, driver of the #5 racecar, will also tag along, making this his third start of the year with the series. Kick the weekend off with a free practice on Friday night hosted by O’Reilly Auto Parts. This is also free to the public to come out and watch and enjoy the racers getting ready for battle the Saturday night. Each competitor will be given two race tires, compliments of O’Reilly Auto Parts, for attending this event. They can be used at this event or carry them over to the next date. We look forward to seeing you at the Races!!! Any Questions…please call me Mike
