Carbs are evil, right? We see a growing number of people advocating low carb diets as the answer to all weight loss woes. Carbs are the evil that are causing the worlds obesity problems, right? As many of you know, we do reduce refined carbohydrates as an initial phase to help increase insulin sensitivity in many of our weight loss programmes. However we rarely, if ever, continue to remove all carbohydrates from the diet. Slowly re-introducing carbs is certainly the aim as your hormone balance re-regulates - as long as youre still dropping body fat. In fact, we find that over the course of working with our clients they are able to tolerate more and more carbohydrates while getting even leaner. The introduction of carbs accelerates fat loss in many cases - the body recovers faster, you train harder and metabolism up-regulates. That said, you have to work out the right amount for you. In our experience this can change monthly or even weekly - especially if youve been training hard and getting leaner. We have no one size fits all prescription, preferring to work closely with people to find what works most optimally for them, at that time. You have to perhaps be a little smarter with your carb intake and learn what makes you leaner. So when thinking about whether carbs are good or bad we think people miss the point.
