Carbs are the magic you are after. With a lot of information out there people tend to opt for low carb diets in an effort to get leaner and or stay leaner. Lowering carb intake has it place but a lot of people take the route of depleting their carbohydrate stores too low which has adverse effects in relation to body composition and performance. Training intensely requires carbohydrates to be able to perform optimally. It delivers fast acting fuel, aids in contraction and with the release of hormones like insulin can be anti catabolic.
