Cardiff 2 Man Utd 2: Welsh trip proves costly for David Moyes IT COSTS £18.60 to drive a team bus over the Severn Bridge - but taking it to Cardiff is turning out to be far more expensive in other ways. Malky Mackays side are slowly evolving into the new Stoke - the place where none of the big clubs look forward to visiting. They hassle for everything. They battle for everything. They dont know when they are beaten. Oh, and, just like the old Stoke, they are deadly at set-pieces. David Moyes discovered it to his cost yesterday, just when it looked like his side were going to get away from south Wales with a win that would have lifted them into the Champions League places for the first time since August. They had got through the controversy of whether Wayne Rooney should have been sent off. They had also come back after Fraizer Campbell equalised Rooneys goal to lead through Patrice Evras header. And then, just as the stadium announcer called the number of added minutes, Peter Whittingham swung in a free-kick from Cardiffs left and substitute Kim Bo-Kyung, all 5ft 10ins of him, stole into space and headed an equaliser. So the champions could be added to a list, including Manchester City and Everton, of teams who went home from the Premier League new boys without three points - and Swansea too, though they didnt have to pay the Severn Bridge toll! It was probably one of the most complete performances of the season so far, said Mackay. The work ethic of my players is a given. What I loved more about the team today was the belief they showed that they can perform at this level. It probably felt like a defeat when we let a goal in on the stroke of half-time, but the goal at the end was thoroughly deserved. Until that late drama it had been all about Rooney. With Robin van Persie out injured, the pressure to lead Uniteds charge fell on Englands star player. Maybe he was trying too hard to live up to the job when the red mist came down after just six minutes. He was chasing a ball down the line with Cardiffs Jordon Mutch, both holding out arms to gain an advantage - then Rooney appeared to kick out in frustration. It looked like a red, but ref Neil Swarbrick settled for only a yellow - and Rooney made the most of it by putting United in front a few moments later. *jeremy*
