Care for Cows: "Dearest India, This gentle, innocent bull was hit by an impatient driver hurrying to the temple to supposedly take darshan of Lord Krsna in Vrindavan. His spine was broken rendering his back legs and tail paralysed. Accepting his fate he stayed in this position, blaming no one, gazing into the distance, fasting for three days until he lowered his head and departed. Since the scriptures declare the bull to be Dharma Personified, what does this senseless incident tell us about India today? Does it tell us that holy cows have been replaced by holy cars? Does it tell us that you struggled for 300 years to free yourselves from British rule only so you could drink tea, wear pants and shirt, play cricket, wear leather and eat beef? Does it tell us that you have abandoned your ancient culture in exchange for affluent barbarian values? We suffered birth and emptiness in western countries where money was god and banks were temples. We rejected all that and turned to you for guidance since you have the most informative scriptures and ancient spiritual traditions… since you host more holy places and sacred rivers than the rest of the planet combined. We came to you for enlightenment but find that you have turned your back on your splendid culture which offers the most penetrating understanding, the most elevated thoughts leading to the highest human achievement. Why have you traded those diamonds for useless material trinkets? You were not born in the light so you could steadily crawl towards darkness. Please awaken!"
