Careers in Public International Law The UQ PIL class is extremely fortunate to be having Catherine Drummond join it this evening to talk about careers in public international law. Catherine is a graduate of the Law School (Catherine topped the UQ PIL class in 2011). She successfully represented UQ in the Jessup moot competition in 2011 and then successfully coached the 2012-2014 Jessup teams which included the 2012 Australian Champion team and the 2014 World Champion team . In 2012, Catherine undertook an internship with the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania . In 2013, Catherine completed Professor Crawfords general course on international law at the Hague Academy in the Netherlands. She was also awarded the International Law Associations national Sir Gerard Brennan Prize for best paper in international law . Later this year, Catherine will undertake an LLM in international law at Cambridge University, having been awarded a Sir John Monash Scholarship . Catherine has recently returned from working in Paris with the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in the international law section headed by Dr Benjamin Juratowitch (Ben was equal top of the 2000 PIL class at UQ). Catherine worked with Ben, Dr Kate Parlett and Belinda McRae (who are both former UQ PIL students and Jessup mooters - Kate will be visiting Brisbane in October and may also be able to speak to the PIL class later in the semester). Catherine will be able to give us fascinating insights into career opportunities in Public International Law - UQ students not currently studying PIL are welcome (although space is limited). The PIL class is at 4pm in the Social Sciences Building (24) Rm S402.
