Cariboo Wounded Warriors 2015 14/10/07 ANNOUNCEMENT Wounded Warriors Canada & Cariboo Wounded Warriors have jointly begun a project that will culminate in a Fly Fishing Destination Event in September of 2015. BACKGROUND Founded in 2006, Wounded Warriors Canada is a non-profit organization that helps Canadian Forces members-be they full time or reservists-who have been wounded or injured in their service to Canada. Cariboo Wounded Warriors was formed to develop and organize a program to provide a local Cariboo destination for Wounded Warriors to come and put into practice the theoretical skills taught by Project Healing Waters and other fly fishing programs that are recognized for their highly therapeutic values to wounded/injured military personnel. The Cariboo has hundreds of quality & trophy trout lakes and this is our way of demonstrating our Cariboo Hospitality and providing a valuable contribution to the healing of our military personnel. The event would last four full days, WW Canada members rotating through a series of 3 trout lakes and the Quesnel River. Local fly fishers would provide boats and flies, as well as assistance at all venues. The determination of logistical requirements and an estimate of the number of arriving participants is in the very preliminary stages at this point. WW Canada is determining how many personnel are within reasonable travel distances of Williams Lake at this very moment. More to come.
