Caring for a loved one with memory loss this holiday season? In honor of National #AlzheimersAwareness Month, we want to share some great tips from Alzheimers Foundation of America on how to keep the season bright. Consider familiarizing others with the person’s memory changes so everyone knows what to expect before they arrive. Encourage everyone to help your loved one with communication by being patient and not interrupting or correcting them. Don’t forget to take care of yourself, too! Most importantly, use the holidays as a reason to look back on fond memories with your loved one; photo albums, traditional songs, food, and events can help your loved one feel comfortable, and remind everyone of all you have to be thankful for. At FEGS, we provide Home Care and Family Services for people with chronic illnesses, and strive to find ways to help everyone have a happy holiday season. FEGS FamilyNet concierge care management service meets the unique needs of families across Long Island -- during the holidays and throughout the year. If you are caring for a loved one, and juggling the responsibilities of work and family, FamilyNet can help.
