Carnal Christian or False Convert? The invisible line that separates the two! Lets define Carnal Christian: An un-spiritual Christian. Supporting Scripture: 1 Cor. 3:1, And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. Lets define False Convert: A person professing to be Christian, but lacks any evidence of repentance, ability to endure affliction and persecution, unrighteous, un-spiritual. Supporting Scripture: Mark 4:16-17, And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17) And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the words sake, immediately they are offended. The dichotomy is not so obvious? In fact, there so similar, you probably wouldnt be capable of readily distinguishing the two! And our churches are plagued with them.. but are they different? or the same? 1 Cor. 3:2-3, I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3) For ye are yet carnal. This is Paul, addressing the saints in Corinth. Theyre dealing with internal disputations in the church. Envying among one another, divisions, cliques, and even fighting! Paul is deeply disturbed because he laid the foundation, and gave them instruction on how to behave and uphold Gods Word! Instead, they choose to submit to there flesh (carnality) and act and react like men. They challenge the authority of Paul, by saying Apollos is there teacher. Creating more disorder and confusion! Some men began exulting there wisdom over the doctrine Paul already established, questioning his scholarship with absurd foolishness? The church became complacent and un-spiritual.. Matthew 13:25-26, But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26) But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. Jesus spake a parable concerning the false, amongst the true! People who sit in churches every Sunday, but theyre faker than a three dollar bill! False Christians have a proclivity to justify their sins, and unrighteouness. They boast in their works and brag in their deeds! They claim to serve God, but never acknowledge His greatness. Their lifestyle is that of a person full of indecision. His heart is full wordly wisdom, and carnal thoughts. His tongue is un-tamed, and full poisonous words. They walk with true Christians, but secretly despise them. They fall every time affliction or tribulation comes there way. No change in behavior or lifestyle, prior to the conversion experience. But openly and publicly profess to be Christian? No faith or evidence of a progression. In conclusion, both groups carry tremendous flaws, and carnal Christians can often be mistaken for false converts.. and false converts are mistaken for carnal Christians! Because of outwardly similarities.. but theres an inward difference! Carnal Christians are saved! False Converts are not! 1 Cor. 3:9, 23 For we are labourers together with God: for ye are Gods husbandry, ye are Gods building. 23) Ye are Christ, and Christ is Gods. Despite the issues the saints had with one another, Paul still knew they were Gods children. The Carnality of a Christian is something all will experience at some point during the walk. Being saved doesnt suggest you will never mess up. One can fall and stumble while remaining in state of progression, but that line is VERY, VERY thin. To avoid confusion, be on fire for God! Challenge yourself, and make goals. But God is still working on me blah, blah, blah, blah! Stop compromising,, stand on the rock which is Jesus Christ our God! He will give you stability, sustainability, and long lasting power to help you turn from those sins. We should see the fruits of the Spirit operating through you, which is the manifest power of God!
