Some were bed flops, but this morning both transfers had improved. I am so grateful to God who reminds me of His care through adversity, and I am thankful for your love and prayers. 11/23/14 Some thoughts as we enter the holiday season...It is important to remember that not everyone is surrounded by large wonderful families. Some of us have problems during the holidays and some of us are overcome with great sadness when we remember the loved ones who are not with us. And many people have no one to spend these times with and are besieged by loneliness. We all need caring, loving thoughts right now. If I dont see your name I will understand. May I ask my friends, wherever you might be, to kindly copy, paste and post this status for one hour to give a moment of support for all those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just need to know someone cares. Do it for all of us, for nobody is immune. I hope to see this on the walls of all my friends just for moral support. I know someone will! I did it for a friend and you can too!! Erin Nichols: 11/23/1 Erin continues to struggle daily with her health issues. The abdominal pain has been severe and she has not been able to find relief. Surgery is scheduled for February 11th. She also continues to have daily migraine headaches which cause nausea and vomiting. The Neuromodulation surgery at OSU is on hold due to a skin infection on her scalp. Shannon Spotts(Erin Nichols sister): 11/23/14 Shannon has been struggling with vertigo so severely that she is unable to drive and has had to go on short term disability at work. Richard Nichols ( Erin Nichols husband): 11/2314 Rick went back to the VA Friday morning and received upsetting news. His foot conditions have gotten worse. He was instructed to be totally off his foot or risk an amputation. So in order to prevent serious complications he has had to quit working, which of course puts the family into financial difficulty. But we accept that his health is more important than any job. Joy: Dan Detrick update: From his with Sharon Detrick: 11/22/14 We did it! George Bolin: 11/16/14 Saturday Dear Family and Friends, We had our appointment with the surgeon yesterday. It was not what we wanted to hear. Due to the complications of the surgery needed we must seek a team of surgeons with more expertise. Possibility that his chest could be opened surgically to get to the problem. Scar tissue must be removed and could also remove his ½ stomach, pulling up part of the intestine to tie off and make a new stomach. Tampa and Duke University has been suggested. Dave and Kelly are diligently researching information for us. Each new day dawns with challenges. Grateful to God that I have George each day. I cannot imagine what life has been for George thru all of this the past year. He has a remarkable ability to endure. For now I have no idea of where we go from here. Back to taking it one day at a time. The esophagus where it connects into the stomach is sealed shut by scar tissue. Nothing can go down so a fluid like saliva or sinus secretions must be brought up and spit out. Absolutely no intake of anything by mouth so he must be on the feeding tube for 13 hours for survival. George has Afib that complicates surgery a little more. Dave has been here since Wednesday. He will be leaving tomorrow morning for home in NC. He has been so wonderful to appear just when I need him the most. Good news is that all tests show that George is still cancer free! Praise God! He is an awesome God and does answer prayers. Thank you for all your prayers and concerns. Please, please, keep praying that we find a team of surgeons and God will guide the hands of the surgeons to bring his esophagus and stomach to function again. Blessings with love to all, Bert (Keep George in your prayers. Be with his wife Bert and their son, daughter in law and grandson. They have been a big help for their parents.) Bill Sark: 11/16/14 Diana writes: Thank you everyone for the prayers. Bill is doing great following his knee replacement. The stitches were removed yesterday. He became a happy man when the Dr told him her could drive. He will continue with physical therapy for a few weeks, but he is starting to use a cane and will probably be given up the walker soon. Thank you, we appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and the all help we received from family and friends. We love you all! Deborah Stanich-Hamlin 11/16/14 Debbies mother passed away. Please pray for comfort. Pray that her Father and brother will ok and stay in touch. It is so hard to live so far away from family. It will be their first holiday without her mother. It is always hard on the first of everything when someone passes away. Jennifer Arnold: 11/16/14 I wanted to update everyone. I have to go back to the hospital on November 25th to get my other stent put in. The doctor wants to put it in before I have another heart attack. Told me to take it easy took me off my blood pressure meds. It is dropping my BP too low and making me worn down along with healing. Please continue to pray this nightmare is over soon and I can get back to my old self. Love you all! Thanks again! Shannon Lynn Branham: 11/16/14 Shannons surgery date is January 7th.. She is scared. Pray she will be calm and not worry. Julie Zerkle (My niece): 11/16/14 Days 151-156: Following chemo last Thurs, I had my Neupogen shot Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon & Tues. I had my blood drawn yesterday for my counts, which came back around 5.5 vs the typical .7 - 1.2 so Im good with that. Had MY LAST CHEMO today, had another mammogram, another breast ultrasound, they measured my arms for a pre-op baseline to compare to post surgery to make sure I dont develop lymphadema (sp?), followed by chest x-rays. I will give exact measurements of the tumors tomorrow as I am exhausted & am in bed! The change has been significant, so thats great news! The larger mass has shrunk well over half per the mammo & ultrasound. That may sound confusing as I have been reporting in the past in cm starting at 6x7 but those measurements were coming from my doctors using the archaic measuring tape. The mammo & ultrasound measurements are accurate. I was given all my pre-op counseling & will have surgery on Wed, Dec 3rd at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus. I have to be there at 5 am & surgery is at 7 for the mastectomy. I decided on my wardrobe for my last day of chemo a few weeks ago as tribute to the long & exhausting fight that not only I am going through, but for a friends little boy who is also proving how tough he is! His parents, Garth Stacia Musgrove (Staci Raster), are so strong & are so brave to have to endure such heartache & the feeling of helplessness for their 2 year old twin son, Gavin, who was diagnosed this past March 2014, the month of his 2nd birthday, with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (aka ALL). He is going through a lot at such a young age & he sits close to my heart because he is the same age as my youngest son, Kellen. While I personally celebrate todays milestone to being one step closer to hearing the words, Youre cancer free!, I do it in the honor of 2 year old Gavin! Btw, if anyone wants to purchase a shirt, bracelet or key ring from Stacia, please let me know or just catch up with her! The shirts are between $10-12. — feeling optimistic with Shawn Downs and 2 others at Downseys Wolverine Den. JOY: 10/31/14 Peggy Bennett is a Grandma!!! Congrats to her new grandson.
