Carol Dusdieker and Margarita Denenburg will perform for the Musical Arts Series in Port Clinton on February 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Firelands Presbyterian Church, 2626 E. Harbor Rd., Port Clinton. Their program will be a mix of art and comic songs and jazzy musical theatre by French composer Nadia Boulanger and her American proteges. Both performers are on the faculty of Heidelberg University. Dr. Carol Dusdieker received her masters and doctorate degrees from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She has an exciting performance background, having performed with various opera companies and symphonies throughout the United States including Glimmerglass Opera, Opera Cleveland, Des Moines Opera, and Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. This is her second appearance in Port Clinton. Dr. Denenburg won her first piano competition at the age of eight, gave her first European concert performance in her teens and has been garnering awards and honors ever since. Born in the Soviet Union, Denenburg and her family emigrated in 1990 with the fall of the Soviet Union, and she eventually landed full scholarships to pursue undergraduate and masters degrees at the University of Arizona and her doctorate at the University of Southern California. In addition to her academic work, she also performs frequently, both as a soloist and in collaboration with other artists. Following the performance, the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council will host a reception for the audience to meet and welcome the performers. Tickets for the concert will be available at the door; students are admitted free of charge. Sponsors for this performance are the Stouffer Family and the Catawba Island Club.
