Carolinas UPDATE (7/30/14) Been soaking up as much of my girls, family and friends as possible which explains this delay ;) Your thoughts, Love and Prayers continue to keep my spirits in high fighting gear! REPLIES I really Hope you all know I really appreciate ALL of the responses, cards, donations and messages!!! I take each message to heart! Therefore my heart truly aches when I cant respond with a thank you card or even e-mail/fb reply :( PLEASE KNOW I draw strength from your comments and encouragements and wish SO BADLY that I can respond with an appropriate thank you!!! But time doesnt allow me that luxury :( Also, we are so appreciative to ALL who have helped us in any way (cutting grass, cleaning, cooking & even decorating etc... :). Really hate to do it this way but its the best we can do... THANK YOU ALL for ALL of your replies and help in every way, shape and form!! It really means so much to us!!! MAKE A WISH We know Make a Wish foundation is geared to kids but we are happy to inform you that EVERYONE who has given so generously towards my family (possible last trip) has done exactly that... Made my Dream come TRUE!!! Only in dreams have I gone to Hawaii. THANKS YOU ALL we are headed to Hawaii shortly!! Still cant believe it... my daughters, Craig and I are Super Excited!!!! EFFECTS OF TREATMENTS FROM GERMANY So many have asked... When will we know if the Big Treatment I did in Germany worked? My fear is that I did that treatment too late in my cancer journey but we hope to get good news at the end of August! I have an appointment with oncologist when we get back from Hawaii and hope they can set me up for my PET/CT scans shortly after that! ASCITES PROBLEM Sadly, this fluid is relentless :/ I had another procedure last Thursday and will have to have one by the end of this week. Seems to be a weekly problem and the needles arent getting smaller :( Once we get back from Hawaii I hope to have port placed so I can drain the fluid on my own and limit the pokes to my scarred and tender belly. One huge thing Im so grateful for is that I found a way to manage the ascites a more natural way and boy was I was Happy to get off the nasty diuretics!! SAD STORY Our hearts are heavy as we received very sad news... one of our dearest friends (Colleen Griffin & family) nephew, Griffin Engle is not doing well at all. He is a sweet boy of only 6 years who has been battling a rare form of brain cancer this past year. Yesterdays update left us in tears as they are dealing with losing Griffin. His Mom, Erin writes, His heart rate is dropping, CT showed multiple new tumors in the brain and swelling in the brain to explain the fatigue/weakness. Chemos are not working, and surgery is not an option. If we did nothing he would only have a few days left. We have chose to do a high dose of steroids and hope it helps with the swelling in the brain and it alleviates some of his symptoms for a short time... enough time for us to be at peace with this. I am not sure how we will ever be at peace with this.... but Griffin needs to know its ok when he cant fight anymore that its ok to let go. I believe in Heaven, I believe he wont be sick in Heaven. Erin wrote again tonight saying they are putting a stunt to buy them some time long enough to receive a vaccine!! PLEASE keep Griffin and his whole family in your prayers! You can follow his story on Caring bridge under Griffins Page, if you would like. BLOG in the D & C A friend of mine wrote up a very nice blog... feel free to check it out!
