Other locations may be available in future. Carpet layers are required to measure, cut, install and repair soft and resilient floor coverings. The Company A well establish Australian success story has acquired new contracts with volume requirements for experienced carpet layers, floor finishers, mat layers in commercial and domestic flooring. The Role: Installing carpets, carpet tiles, carpet mats and vinyl flooring Measuring areas to be covered and consulting plans to estimate quantities of floor covering materials required preparing surfaces for covering and removing baseboard trims Measuring, cutting and fixing underlay materials Laying coverings, such as carpets, linoleum, parquetry blocks, cork tiles and other resilient flooring materials, over floors, matching patterns, cutting shapes around fixtures and trimming edges Securing floor coverings and fitting edge trims in doorways Sanding, staining and applying finishing coatings to timber floors May install wall, ceiling, counter and bench coverings The ideal candidate Qualified carpet layer with at least 3 years experience Competent English Competent in reading and understanding Floor plans, measurements, installation Work Orders (Job Sheets) and various documentation associated with carpet installations. Competent in assessing various job sites, assessing floor preparation, planning and check measuring before starting the carpet installation. Neatly installing Smoothedge Carpet gripper to both wood floors and concrete floors to all perimeters of rooms. Neatly installing underlay and taping or stapling of underlay joins. Cutting and shaping carpet to approximate room sizes in accordance with plans and carefully placing in rooms in readiness for installation. Heat Bond joining of carpet seams and joins in accordance with floor plans and layout. Stretching of carpet to all rooms ensuring it is taut in all directions. This is done using a combination of Knee kicker and Power stretcher. Neatly trimming and tucking carpet into smoothedge gripper to all perimeters Fitting of various door bars and trims as required. Clean up and vacuum on completion. General communication with various including: clients, project managers, supervisors, other installers, installation scheduler, managers and sales staff. Carrying out all work in accordance with Flooring Industry standards. On offer: Base Salary of $65,000, Super, Tools of the trade provided & Initial Accommodation if required. Relocating applicants will also be provided other non-financial support such as assistance with bank accounts, phone etc. to make the transition easier.
