Carriacou Athletes Off To 2014 CARIFTA GAMES Beausejour, Carriacou, April 16th, 2014– At 10:45am, on Wednesday April 16th, a team of nineteen (19) athletes and two (2) coaches departed the Maurice Bishop International Airport for Martinique to compete in the 2014 CARIFTA Games. The Martinique 2014 CARIFTA Games would mark its 43rd year to its annual calendar and is scheduled for April 18th to April 21st at the Pierre Aliker Municipal Stadium. National High Jump Record Holder, Keston Quashie, and 2014 National Javelin Champion, Mickel Joseph, both from Carriacou, are among the team to participate in the above mentioned events. Coach of the 2014 Grenada CARIFTA Team, Mr. Paul Phillip, expressed confidence in both athletes from Carriacou, Keston and Mickel, and is expecting great outcomes from their performances at the CARIFTA Games. Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Sen. Jester Emmons, congratulated both athletes on their performances at the recently concluded 2014 National Championship Games and Inter-col and wished them success at the 2014 CARIFTA Games. Emmons said that in Carriacou there are many athletes who are still waiting in the wings and has the ability to become CARIFTA selectees and also CARIFTA medalists.
