Carrick callout: Day 8 Another day over and the Met Eireann - TopicsExpress

Carrick callout: Day 8 Another day over and the Met Eireann Orange weather alert certainly came in with a vengeance as these few DMRT photos show. Almost understandably in such conditions there was, sadly, no positive outcome. Quite to the contrary; the search had to be stopped due to highly dangerous storm gusts on the cliff tops between Glen and Malin Beg. Conditions were atrocious with driving rain, raging seas, and tanking rivers. The Team had two search parties out on this section but all returned safely to Carrick. The afternoon was spent planning tomorrow’s operations with the Coast Guard and Gardai and SAFETY for all searchers underpins everything we do over the next couple of days as the severe weather is set to remain. Make sure that other family members know if you are going out on the search and be properly attired for the weather. It is an inadvisable task for under eighteens and we urge discretion giving both the weather conditions and possibly traumatic situations arising from recovery. The Incident Room for co-ordination of all search parties tomorrow and Sunday is in the community hall and please report there before deciding to head out. In the interests of safety all high ground, coastal areas and rivers are being allocated to Mountain Rescue and Coast Guard crews with nine distinct sections already defined and assigned. All other areas will be allocated by the Gardai to local searchers. We appeal for the public’s cooperation and once more we go out with the earnest hope that we can bring closure to this sad event for the Maguire family.
