Carroll Gibbons was an American-born pianist (born in Clinton Massachusetts), bandleader and composer and was a contemporary of Billy Mayerl. his style of playing was similar to Mayers. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and was the co-leader of the Savoy Orpheans Band in the 1920s. This band was resident at the Savoy Hotel in London. Billy Mayerls band, the Savoy Havana Band, was also resident at the Savoy Hotel. Here is a film of Carroll Gibbons playing. He was excellent. youtube/watch?v=AUPC4cSmL58
