Casa Colonial Miguel y Ana Doris in Habana Vieja, new review: We stayed 3 nigths in Miguel and Ana, B&B (casa particular) and I recommend to anyone to not stay there. There people are dishonest and do not deserve to host travellers. On the morning we left the house, Ana came with a huge bill, the rate of the room had changed from 30CUC per night to 35CUC. She tried to make me doubt that I misunderstood the phone call we had in Spanish and that it was the normal rate for a house in old Havana district. So I knock at the door of the room next to mine, in their own house. And the couple there was paying 30CUC the night ! We wanted to pay the bill in euros, cause we didn’t have any convertible pesos left. Ana stated that she just had a call with an hotel and that the rate was 1.08. Althought we checked it later on the same day at 1.18 in an official Cuban change office (CADECA) So they charged us 10% more than the usual rate. We requested a taxi to leave the house to a place 4 km away from their house. Miguel offered to drop up of with its own car and he charged us 10CUC for the ride, although a fair taxi would have been half of this price. The meals at 15CUC are out of price, when you can eat in the street for 1CUC. Plus this is always the same rice, beans, tomatoe and pork every single diner, and not even a dessert or a fruit. They provided on request bottles of water but the plug seal was actually gone, I am sure they refill the bottles with tap water and they charge you 1.5 CUC the bottle !
